The rule appears to primarily affect the children of naturalized US citizens serving in the armed forces who have not lived in the US for a required period of time, a relatively small number -- estimated to be approximately 100 annually, according to a Defense Department official.

Previously, their children would be considered to be both living in and outside of the US for purposes of eventually gaining citizenship. This is just one more thing that our military and Embassy works overseas don’t need is to worry about the citizenship of their new born children. This is crazy for parents to have to go through all this paperwork when they are over there serving in the Military. Then you tell them “No your child is not a US citizen”, Even though you (Government) sent them there. Let’s not forget before the child turns 18th they still have to Swear oaths of allegiance to the US. I just have to say that this is so wrong and I believe this won’t last long before it will be changed back.
